Identity: A Study on Galatians

Series Info

Our religious default setting is to try and earn our way into God’s good graces by behaving ourselves and doing religious stuff.  There are two big problems with that:

1. The Bible says that’s impossible.
2. If we could, it would only serve to glorify us, and not God.

Galatians teaches clearly and strongly that we are saved by God’s grace, not by our religious posturing.  It’s written with a sense of urgency and even anger, because the churches in Galatia have lost that message.  We face the same basic problem as the Galatians did: the truth is being undermined, and we must defend it.

Audio

Part 1
In part one of our study on Galatians, we consider why Paul was so furious as he wrote this epistle… The gospel was being undermined, and he was willing to vehemently defend it.

Part 2: New Identity
We are not God’s children because we follow His laws. We follow God’s laws because we are His children.

Part 3: If all your friends…
In part three of the Identity series, we study Galatians 2:11-21 and examine just who exactly we’re following.

First of all, this is the nicest website for a church that I’ve ever seen. Secondly, we’re new to the area and can’t wait to come tomorrow! See you there! I’m the smiling guy with the smiley wife and smiley baby boy!

    Jared,
I’m glad you like the site, it’s brand new! I’ll be looking out for you this morning, I’d love to meet you! However, a smiling family won’t make you stand out too much at the Vineyard–that’s pretty much the norm. Contact us anytime if you have questions. You can use the contact form to get in touch with someone directly.

    thanks!
    -Aaron
