What is the one thing you have to do or you’ll die? Your passion? Your “holy must”?
For some, this answer is easy. As soon as the question is posed, your heart is pounding and you can’t help but blurt out that thing that keeps you up at night.
But maybe you’ve never considered it… at least not quite like this. Maybe the cruel world has taught you to quell the radical dreams in your heart. Or maybe you need to spend some introspective, shoe-gazing prayer time and ask God to reveal your one thing.
This week at the Vineyard, Aaron is sharing some stories from his trip to England and we’ll consider “one thing.”
LifeGroup Questions
- Explain the difference between a Holiday vs. Vacation and give an example in your life when this was true: when your vacation still left you empty but your holiday filled you up.
- Read Ecc. 2:17 “So I hated life, because what is done under the sun was grievous to me, for all is vanity and a striving after wind.”
- Basically Solomon is saying, “I hated my life, because my work was unsatisfying, because it lacked meaning.” He grieved because he had no sense of purpose in his day to day work. Have you ever felt like that?
- Are your days filled with things you MUST do like grocery shopping and errand-running or are they filled with ways that you fulfill your HOLY MUST?
- Read Psalm 139:13-16, Eph. 2:10, Acts 17:24ff
- Basically: 1) I formed you into just exactly what I wanted. 2) I prepared in advance for you, a purpose…good works for you to walk in. 3) Then I put you in a certain place, and at a certain time, to do a certain work..
- How do these Scriptures encourage you? Convict you? Challenge you?
- Steve kept telling Aaron, “Itʼs not about doing everything right…itʼs about doing the right thing.” How does this apply to you? In what ways does this help you evaluate your life?
- You were strategically positioned, by God Himself, into this time, and this place, this culture…because there is something that needs to be done. It’s your mission. It’s your thing. It’s God’s calling on your life. What is your one thing? If you know it, share it! If you don’t know it, share about your struggle in not knowing.
- If you know it, are you doing it? How can your Life Group help you do your one thing?
- If you don’t know it, ask for prayer and pray for one another that God would show each of you what your one thing is.
- Keep talking about this as a group from week to week. This was not just another sermon, this is your life . . . your HOLY MUST!
